MCC Manitoba Program Director
Winnipeg is a city of approximately 650,000 located on the Red River, 108 km's north of the US border. Being near the center of Canada, it is a major transportation center. The city's population is fairly diverse, representing people from many different cultures. Most of the people are English speaking with French, Filipino and Chinese being other predominant languages. There are about 65,000 First Nations people living in Winnipeg.

There are almost 50 Mennonite churches in Winnipeg, which is home to about 30,000 Mennonites. Winnipeg has two large public liberal arts universities and a Mennonite university (Canadian Mennonite University). There are also two Mennonite private high schools.

Winnipeg temperatures can range from 40°C (104°F) in summer to -45°C (-49°F) in winter, with average summer temperatures around 25.4°C (77.7°F) and average winter temperatures around -12.9°C (8.8°F).

The main MCC building in Winnipeg is located at 134 Plaza Drive and houses approximately sixty staff persons who work for MCC Canada, MCC Manitoba or Ten Thousand Villages. Approximately half of the building area is taken up with open landscaped offices, conference rooms, a library and a supply room. The rest of the area is used for the Material Resource program and a Ten Thousand Villages gift shop. MCC Manitoba has a second office located on Henderson Hwy.

Functioning as a member of the MCC Manitoba (MCCM) Manitoba Leadership Team (MLT), this person will support the work of individual Program staff and coordinate overall goals and objectives of the MCCM Program team. Within MLT, will help shape MCC’s mission, vision and strategic priorities as expressed in the province of Manitoba.
Occasional evening and weekend work; Occasional long days
Major Responsibilities:

1. Program Team Support:
• Meet with program staff individually on a regular and as-needed basis to advise, encourage and support.
• Convene program staff as a team on a regular and as-needed basis to facilitate collaboration on shared issues and agendas.
• Support program staff through prayer, counsel, advocacy, and networking. Annually evaluate the performance of program coordinators and program assistant
Occasional recruitment and supervision of practicum students and/or short-term employees
Manage transitions of program staff
2. Program Team Management:
• Arrange and supervise the evaluation of programs including national MCC program evaluations.
• Process criteria and proposals for initiating or adopting new programs.
• Facilitate program delivery by working with staff to complete annual plans.
• Connect with MCC program leadership in other provinces through the Program Directors Network.
• Review program finances and insurance needs, consult with staff and accountant on larger expenditure decisions.
• Compile the budget for MCCM Programs in close collaboration with the Director of Finance.
• Monitor the expenses and income for MCCM programs
• Supervise the termination or transfer of programs as needed
Manage hiring of new program staff in close collaboration with MCCC HR - creation of job descriptions, interview process, selecting interview team, collaborative decision-making with ED in selection process etc.
• Represent MCCM in selected outside organizations intersecting with MCCM's program priorities
Occasional participation on inter-Mennonite/inter-faith/inter-organizational committees for a specific event/initiative/theme, especially those that may generate controversy in the constituency (recent examples: #ChurchTooManitoba, A Cry for Home)
• Coordinate office space and equipment arrangements for MCCM programs
3. MCCM Manitoba Leadership Team:
• Participate in the MCCM MLT to accomplish the purpose and vision of MCCM
• Report to MCCM ED on program developments and proposals.
Occasional participation in interview teams and processes for other MCCM departments
