The MCC constituency includes 96 churches, most belonging to Mennonite Church Saskatchewan and the SK Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches. Rosthern Junior College, a Mennonite high school is also a part of the constituency.
The Swift Current Furniture Shop is in a small city of about 17,500 in southwest Saskatchewan and has a partner Thrift Shop that operates in the community as well.

The MCCS Thrift Shop movement was started almost 40 years ago in Saskatchewan. MCCS Thrift Shops seek to be a friendly, caring presence in the community, showing value and respect to all. Practicing and promoting faithful stewardship and care for God’s creation and raising funds for MCC are also key components to the mission statement of the Thrift Shops.

The Furniture Shop Assistant and the Manager work together as a team, accountable to the Swift Current Board. This position requires a self-starter who is able to make decisions while being flexible and adaptable. Must be able to work with a team of volunteers.
Occasional long days; Physically demanding work
1. Maintain a high level of integrity, reflecting Christian respect and Christ’s unconditional love through daily interactions with volunteers, donors and customers.
2. Be the point of contact for incoming donations.
3. Pre-sort donations as they come in.
4. Clear donations from receiving room back door into the workroom.
5. Thank donors for their donations; make decisions on what donations will be accepted and recommend other places for donations as needed.
6. Manage sorting and pricing in the workroom.
7. Provide excellent customer service while performing furniture pickups and deliveries.
8. Assist customers with loading & unloading purchases and donations of furniture and household items.
9. Refinish and repair furniture as needed.
10. Exercise a compassionate spirit with volunteers, donors and customers on issues which arise as people interact within the store.
11. Other duties as assigned.

Note: Physical labour is involved in this position, sometimes requiring the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
