SALT applications are accepted year-round, but only those received before February 15 are guaranteed to be considered for a placement in the same year. The earlier we receive your application, the greater your chances of being placed in your preferred assignment as we start the placement process each January and finish around late May.

YAMEN applicants must apply at the MCC office located in their home country.

SALTers are asked to fundraise a minimum contribution due before the beginning of the SALT term in August. MCC then covers all travel, food, accommodations, orientation and retreat costs, and full medical insurance. We strongly believe that finances should not deter you from serving. If you are not able to raise the minimum amount, please contact us to discuss your options.

MCC provides a modest monthly stipend and worker renewal funds to assist with any personal expenses during your term. We will also assist with student loan payments during service, if applicable

If planning to use SALT as an internship/practicum, you must inform the SALT Coordinator of this intention during the application process to ensure we can meet the requirements of your educational institution. It is your responsibility to ensure SALT meets the requirements of your program before accepting an assignment.
Other
Each assignment varies in work and responsibility. Most assignments involve serving alongside local partner organization assisting with their relief, development, or peace programming.

While we do our best to determine and outline job responsibilities with our local partner organizations, duties may change or be refined over time in communication with supervisors to meet the ongoing dynamics and needs within a local context. As such, the greatest characteristics a participant can bring to an assignment are adaptability, flexibility, patience, a willingness to get your hands dirty, and humility to complete even mundane tasks.
